Pediatric Dentist Dr. Stephen Brandt

Dr. Stephen K. Brandt

Dr. Brandt received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 1975. He completed a General Practice Residency while serving in the U.S. Air Force at Eglin AFB, Florida, in 1976 and completed a Pediatric Dental Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1980.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and served as a Director of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry for seven years (1994-2001). Dr. Brandt is a past president of the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (1999) and a past president of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (2001). He also served as President of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2012.

Dr. Brandt was an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatric Dentistry, Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from 1980-1986, and he was the Assistant Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program.

He was recruited by and joined the Scott and White Hospital staff in Temple, Texas in 1986. He was Chief of Pediatric Dentistry for Scott and White Hospital from 1986-1994 and was an Associate Professor of the Texas A&M University School of Medicine in the Departments of Pediatrics and Surgery.

Dr. Brandt left Scott and White Hospital in 1994 and opened a private practice in Killeen. He is a member of the Central Texas Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southwest Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

He is a published author and an active lecturer. His latest lecture was entitled “Board Certification-Clinical Exam Section Review” and was presented to the membership of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry at their annual meeting in San Francisco, CA, in May 2004. Dr. Brandt is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

He volunteers his time in Copperas Cove and Harker Heights to give free dental exams to the 200-plus children in the Head Start program at these locations. His hobbies include cooking, wine collecting, running, hunting and fishing. While not practicing dentistry, he is actively pursuing these hobbies. He has three daughters (Vanessa, Natalie, and Emily) and 3 beautiful granddaughters.
